 Have you noticed it lately, the build up? What we have seen do to the  pandemic is a change in our lifestyle that has led to a giant buildup of boxes.  This is simply because the way we do life has changed. Our economy is now changing to be more online or e-commerce based.  I can now shop online for almost every single thing and have it all delivered to my home for nearly the same as going out and purchasing in person.  In some cases those stores that were not considered essential are still closed depending on their location and online is the only way to purchase things. What this has led to is a massive increase in the amount of cardboard boxes that are arriving to my home and is leaving me with a giant pile in my garage. So I want to go over a few things on how to deal with it

The thing that made me laugh was when my wife showed me a TikTok video of a lady who was claiming to have the answer to all the shipping boxes.  She walked through her house with a box in hand talking like she discovered a black hole of geniusness.  Then she opened her garage and kicked the empty box into the garage and that was the end of the video.   It made me laugh so hard because the garage was just as full as mine of boxes. Now I am not one to simply laugh at anything but when I see someone else going through the same thing and that is a massive amount of packaging supplies building up I didn't feel so alone. 

So the solution to all the boxes and the packaging supplies build up is not kicking it to the garage and forgetting it.  INstead you should start working on ways of being responsible to our environment and to the costs involved with all this extra cardboard.  Many more companies are shipping more and in the end this is causing lots of trees to be cut down and much more solid waste to be put into the ground.  Now trees are usually planted back in much greater quantity but the fact that our trash is building up on the planet or in our ocean is a big issue.

The fact is that most cardboard boxes and their fillings can be recycled and reused for a fraction of the price of making brand new products.  This eliminates the waste and also eliminates the cost of making new material when you can reuse the old one.  This really struck a nerve with me because until now we didn't recycle.  It took till now for our trash company to receive recyclable material.  So now we are able to break down all of those boxes and put them in their own special can to be recycled and reused.  It is truly a wonderful thing and I am so proud that many companies are seeing this as an actual problem and are giving solutions.

So when you are worried about those boxes just break them down and recycle them.  I found that my trash company now takes them, but I also found a recycling location about 5 minutes from my house.  A quick trip over there once a month is not much of a hassle and I find it pretty fun to break the boxes down.  So stay safe and do you part to help our earth!c
